Software Engineering Manager
Responsibilities | Manage a small team of senior software engineers developing the software associated with a new handheld 3D scanner for the dental market. Principal tasks will include the creation of schedules, assignment of tasks and progress review. This is a hands on role requiring implementation in C++, test designing and documentation writing. Vendor selection to minimize required code writing where applicable. It is important that the Software Engineering Manager can interpret user input and incorporate product specifications/requirements. The role will include coordination with other functional teams, including systems architecture, opto-mechanics and electronics, and the Manager will participate in frequent meetings of a cross-functional Steering Committee. | Requirements | Good communication skills and at least five years of experience managing software engineers. Excellent academic credentials with at least an MS in computer science, applied mathematics or equivalent. At least five years experience developing software in C++. Demonstrated problem solving skills and experience bringing a successful product to the market. Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and with project management software such as Microsoft Project. | Preferences | Experience developing vision and image processing algorithms. Knowledge of FDA requirements and procedures such as 510K. Experience with the following packages: Qt, Polyworks and/or Geomagic, Ruby, Vtk, Perl, Boost, Matlab® and Subversion. Familiarity with cameras and optics. Experience with calibrating precision systems, developing high speed algorithms and with processing video. Familiarity with standard unit test procedures and with GUI test packages such as Silk. |
